Poetry

Journal Entry: Fri Nov 13, 2009, 5:36 PM
So I'm currently working on different styles of poetry, starting with a Sestina. I'm up to two stanzas already, but I know that the worst is yet to come with this particular type. I don't really feel like explaining a Sestina to those of you who don't know, but if you're interested here's a link: [link]

Anyway I'm pretty confident that I can write a good Sestina, but I don't want that to be my only experimental one. I've written sonnets, and I'll probably do one of those too, but does anybody have any suggestions as to other types that I could do? Just let me know the name of the style and I can look it up, or maybe suggest an original idea? I'd be happy to test out any poetry styles people think up.

  • Mood: Yearning
  • Listening to: Zombie Inc - In Flames
  • Reading: The Wisdom of the Native Americans - Kent Nerburn
  • Watching: Clone Wars (New episode!!!)
  • Playing: Battlefront II
  • Eating: Leftovers

My name is Josh, and I write music, lyrics, poems, and fiction. I like books that don't have a genre, and music that most people don't. I have trouble associating myself with any one thing. I am very religous, but I'm also in love with music, Japanese swordfighting, writing novels and poems, reading novels and poems, playing guitar, emo haircuts and more recently, Star Wars. (Ahsoka is the best!)

So I challenge you to figure me out through my poems and stories, and maybe you'll let me in on some secret about myself. Thanks to everyone who favorites my stuff and an even greater thanks to the people on this site that post things from the heart. We need more artists like you!
